On Friday, October 5th, Whitemouth School students participated in our annual Terry Fox Run. Terry Fox was an ordinary man who accomplished extraordinary goals in his short lifetime. At our assembly we recognized his achievements as well as those of our own students before heading out on our community run.
After years of having to wear a tutu, a toga, a minion outfit and a variety of other costumes, Mr. Plaetinck responded with a challenge on behalf of the male members of the staff. For every female member of the staff who agreed to get a Terry Fox tattoo, Mr. Plaetinck pledged $10.00 toward The Marathon of Hope. His assistant, Mr. Hrabi completed 15 tattoos created by Ms. Wiebe. In total, $1980.75 was raised for cancer research. We appreciate the efforts of Owenn Dobush, Aiden Hickson and Paige and Payton Panych for their outstanding fundraising efforts. Thank-you Mrs. Staerk for organizing and compiling all of the paper work associated with the Terry Fox Run.
At the conclusion of the run we enjoyed a tasty hotdog lunch prepared by the Spicy Radish staff.
We are proud of our students who completed the run despite the inclement weather. We appreciate the efforts of everyone who helped to keep Terry’s dream alive.
