Concours d'art oratoire
Harvey, Tia and Phoenix could choose to write about anything in their lives. They all wrote stories about their cats. These grade 6 students have been working on refining their speeches in French for months. Many noon hours have been spent with Mrs. Van Bergen as they practiced memorizing their work and perfecting their expression and pronunciation.
On April 10th they performed their speeches for a video sent to Sunrise Program Leaders, Mrs. Dienstbier and Ms. Choma. Using the official judging rubrics, the students were evaluated and were given valuable feedback. On April 16th, the students performed live in front of Mrs. Dienstbier and Ms. Viznaugh for more feedback.
Phoenix Amerongen placed 3rd in the school based competition, while Tia Plaetinck placed 2nd. Harvey Adigue, placing 1st place, will represent Sunrise School Division in the Grade 5/6 French Communication and Culture, Ma Vie category at the Canadian Parents for French (CPF) Provincial Competition: Concours d'art oratoire, on May 4th in Winnipeg at the College St. Boniface.
Mrs. Van Bergen is very proud of all three of these students. It was a very close competition. Any one of these three students could have done us proud at the Provincials.
Bonne Chance Harvey!
